Fitness for Work Screening

Our fitness for work screening is shorter than an FCE, focused explicitly on those difficulties you may be experiencing as a result of an injury or illness. It is a screening assessment that generates a brief report. The screening is ideal for getting started with rehabilitation, as it allows us to identify limitations and set goals.

Why Fitness for Work Screening is Important

This screening helps identify any functional limitations that may be impacting an individual’s work performance. It is ideal for situations where a full FCE may not yet be necessary but where there is a need to understand current capabilities and challenges.

The assessment includes a short evaluation and a concise report. Based on the findings, we outline clear, practical goals to help guide the next steps in therapy or workplace planning. This supports early intervention and helps avoid long-term absence from work.

The Benefits of Fitness for Work Screening

Fitness for Work Screening can help to:

  • Identify physical or cognitive limitations related to a specific injury or illness
  • Establish realistic, individualised rehabilitation goals
  • Provide early insights into work readiness
  • Guide treatment planning without the need for a full FCE
  • Offer a cost-effective and time-efficient solution for employees and employers
  • Facilitate early decision-making around modified duties or return-to-work plans

What to Expect from the Assessment

During the session, individuals can expect:

  • A brief evaluation of physical, cognitive, and/or psychosocial factors related to their ability to work
  • A discussion of current challenges and work-related goals
  • A short, focused report that outlines key findings and recommendations

This screening provides a valuable foundation for rehabilitation, helping individuals take the first step towards recovery and a successful return to work.
